and other wild noises

At least a month ago Emma started repeating certain sounds that Steve and I were making. She got really excited when we made elephant sounds and before long she was making them on her own. Now whenever she hears the word 'elephant' or sees an elephant she will trumpet. It is the cutest sound ever!

Emma always seems to be playing a "Where's Waldo" game in her head, except with elephants. Sometimes we think she is seeing invisible elephants when she trumpets for no obvious reason. However, if we look closely enough there is always an elephant to be found somewhere.

Despite her affinity for elephant sounds, she is also fond of woofing like a dog, growling like a lion or tiger, and chattering like a monkey, and yes, she usually does correctly match the animals with their sounds. Usually. The other day a cat woofed and so did a giraffe. However, after meeting a real cat in person this past weekend, Emma can now say "meow meow" when pointing to a cat. Of course, you have to listen very closely or else it sounds like she is saying Mama. :)
